Cai Chang, Chinese revolutionary and hero of women’s liberation.
Born 1900 in Hunan, she joined the Communist Party in 1923 and took part in the Long March. She was elected to the Party Central Committee at the 7th Congress and was the founding Chair of the All-China Women’s Federation. She remained in the country’s top political leadership until her retirement in 1980, and died in 1990 in Beijing.
